As an F-18 Pilot, Capt. Chad "Sly" Sylvester wanted to show others what he actually sees when involved in air combat training missions. His painting is extremely meticulous, since his biggest critics for technical accuracy are his fighter pilot peers and himself. All flight parameters on the displays have been verified for technical accuracy.
The scene is of a typical dogfighting event at Exercise Maple Flag, one of North America's largest multinational military fighter exercises held in Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada each year. In this scenario, the CF-18 pilot is pulling lead for a high angle gunshot on a mock adversary represented by an F-16.
