Situation: A Convair F-102A Delta Dagger of the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, intercepts a Soviet Tu-95 Bear bomber off the coast of Iceland. This scenario was repeated almost daily in the late 60’s. The 57th had a distinguished record while flying the F-102 and in 1970 was chosen as the top fighter interceptor unit in the ADC. The 57th was the last regular Air Force unit to operate the F-102 in the Air Defense role.
