Depiction: The USS Nevada, the only capital ship to get underway during the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor is the subject of Stan’s dramatic painting. The burning hull of The USS Arizona is in the background as the Nevada, under the command of Lt. Cdr. Francis Thomas makes its dash for the channel. Fearing that the Nevada would be sunk in the channel, the decision was made to beach the ship near Hospital Point.
