Built in the 1920’s, Grand Central Air Terminal was the primary airport in Los Angeles. Howard Hughes (outside on the tower), Amelia Earhart (by her yellow 1937 Cord), and Charles Lindbergh all considered it their home base. Being in close proximity to Hollywood, it was also used extensively for shooting films. It closed in 1959, having been replaced by LAX years earlier. The terminal still exists, and was restored by Disney Studios, who now own it.
