X-15

All metal, hand-painted and ready to hang!

One of three X-15A's built, serial #56-6670, is mainly made of titanium and stainless steel with some aluminum for its internal structure. It is covered with Inconel-X nickel alloy steel to withstand high temperatures. A white coating of Emerson Electric T-500 albative material was used when external fuel tanks were added. During test flights in 1967, a maximum speed of Mach 6.7 was achieved.
