The Douglas A-3 Skywarrior, also known as the A3D and nicknamed the "Whale", was a carrier-based jet aircraft developed for the United States Navy. Introduced in 1956, it served as a strategic bomber and later adapted to various roles including aerial refueling, electronic warfare, reconnaissance, and training. The A-3 remained in service until 1991, making it one of the longest-serving carrier-based aircraft in U.S. Navy history.
