  • The "Flying Leathernecks" of Marine Corps Aviation trace their beginnings to 1912 when First Lieutenant Alfred Cunningham reported to the Naval Aviation Camp in Annapolis, Maryland for duty. In August of that year, he earned his wings and in doing so a new era of United States Marine Corps history was birthed. Since that time some of the finest aviators in the world have taken to the skies to fly and fight for freedom around the globe.....both at sea and on land!

This painting pays tribute to the aviators and their aircraft that have forged a portion of that history over the last few decades. As time marches on, that history will be written by a new generation of aircraft and Marines who continue to defend and protect the freedoms of people all around the world.

Aircraft featured in this print include the: AV-8 Harrier, F/A-18 Hornet, EA-6B Prowler, AH-1 Cobra, UH-1 Iroquois, CH-46 Sea Knight, CH-53 Super Stallion, MH-53 Osprey, KC-130 Hercules, and the F-4 Phantom.
